about

During 2011 I had the opportunity to write the orchestral arrangement of some pop songs. I've been told I'd be free to arrange them any way I liked. And now these traks have been recorded and collected on CD.

Then pop songs. But total freedom to the arranger coming from prog rock and loving some bizarre and delirant approaches to orchestration available in some Schubert, Wagner, or Shostakovich compositions.

I think that my "prog audience" will appreciate moslty "Prologo Frammentario", "Paura del domani" and "Cuore di gabbiano". Mainly, on this last song, prog-nerd's ear may hear a shameless quotation! :-)

These songs come from the path I walked in these last four years together with Fabrizio Pagliettini and Nicolò Pagliettini, and through them with A.GE.RA.N.V. (an association of sight impaired children's parents located in Genoa). The lyrics talks about handicap, illness, hope ("Un brivido", "Il gigante in bilico", "Cuore di Gabbiano"), di bullismo ("Paura del domani"), di musica, teatro, emozioni ("Un frammento di teatro", "Succede quando canto", "Il bene più prezioso"). Two poets gave some lyrics to this project: Alessandro Fogarollo wrote about blindness ("La nenia dello sguardo"), Angela Moggia about Genoa ("Antica Poesia").

credits

released December 1, 2011

The singers: very very special guest, Aleandro Baldi (twice winner of Sanremo Festival during the nineties) on "Un brivido". Nicolò Pagliettini, Fausto Sidri, Luca Poli, Michela Marasco, Angelica Lazzari, Andrea Guglielmelli.

It's an acoustic album, recorded by Nicola Sannino. The coda piano I played on all the songs is a Yamaha C7, property of Marco Barletta, and on "La Nenia dello Sguardo" I played accordion, mandolin and Fender Rhodes.

Joanne Roan, very trusted collaborator of many other releases, played all flutes.

The string quartet is the "Formus Quartet": well known all-female quartet of Genoa formed by Sylvia Trabucco (violin), Alessandra Dalla Barba (violin), Ilaria Bruzzone (viola), Chiara Alberti (cello).

On "Un brivido" there's a third violin too: he's Nicolò Rolandelli (talented son of Sylvia Trabucco)
